The date of Trump's trial in the case of concealing classified documents
Former US President Donald Trump is going to trial for allegedly dissipating classified documents in the spring of next year, a US court has ruled.
Judge Elaine Cannon has set the trial date for May 20. Trump wanted the trial to take place after the November 2024 elections, while the prosecution wanted the trial to take place this year.
The trial will take place at the same time as the election campaign.
Trump, 77, faces serious charges over storing sensitive files at his Florida home.
Prosecutors say he illegally kept classified documents at his private mansion in Mar-a-Lago after he left office and obstructed government efforts to recover them.
