Draining Fukushima: Why did the IAEA approve Japan's controversial plan?

 

 

The UN's International Atomic Energy Agency has given the green light to Japan's plan to drain 1.3 million tons of radioactive water from the destroyed Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean.

Despite this, opponents of the plan in neighboring communities and countries and environmental advocates continued to voice their concerns.
